Solar Farming

A Solar Farm is a large (>5kW) grid connected solar array installed on private property, either on a roof or ground mounted. The system has a defined return on investment period, and the owner receives ongoing income from power fed into the grid for the remaining decades which the solar farm is in operation.

2010, the year Solar Farming became profitable

Finally, it is now possible to set up a financially viable Solar Farm in Australia. An environmentally positive and financially rewarding investment that will continue to bring benefit for decades.

In 2009, the $8000 solar rebate was replaced with a combination of fantastic new schemes such as the Solar Bonus Feed-in, and Solar Credit Schemes.

The eligibility restrictions based on income caps, which directly affected small businesses and farms have been lifted. This means all residential and small business sites, and farms that have a connection to the electricity grid are now able to access these new schemes to install solar power systems.

Dropping solar panel prices

2008-2009 saw a massive international oversupply of PV solar panels, this glut in conjunction with the world economic downturn has caused manufacturers to drop the wholesale price of solar panels. Combining this with the new incentive schemes (some only active for a set period) means that 2010 is the best time ever to install a Solar Farm.
